Connecting to Servers
The two tutorials below will show you how to connect to your server utilizing GoLive, and the Art Institute of Las Vegas server. If you are a student or instructor, you have 500 MB of server space alotted to you. Good luck! Haven't done a Dreamweaver one yet, but it should be arriving shortly.
Connecting to a server through GoLive ::
You will need login information provided by your server company.
Always be sure your site works locally before uploading it to the web, you'll save time this way.
1) Open GoLive
2) Navigate to Connect FTP :
File > Server > Connect FTP
OR - Look at the image below.

3) Fill in your FTP logon information.
You will get this information from the company you have purchased from in an email. Be sure you have this, without it you can't go any further.

4) Click "OK" This closes the window.
Then Click "Connect". You should be able to see the files on your server.
5) Open the folder labeled "public_html" or "www". A copy of your website goes in this folder. Be sure the "index.html" folder is the first file. If you are uploading your site for the first time,
CONNECTING to the Art Institute Server
As a student and instructor, you are given 500 MB of webspace.
For this tutorial, you will need your OLS logon and password.
1) Logon to the Ai Website using your OLS by going here:
https://hub.stu.aii.edu/servlet/login
2) At the "My Hub" page, Click "My Website".
This will take you to your account page. See image below.

3) Click "File Manager".
Note: On the right, you will see your domain name. This is how you access the site, in the example below, it is called "rd432.aisites.com". See image below.

4) Click the folder called "public_html". See image below.

5) Inside this folder is where you put your website beginning with your "index.html" page. The index page is the first page that a web browser will find when it goes to this folder. Therefore, you homepage html should be called "index.html".

UPLOADING FILES
1) To upload files, click the "Upload files to current directory" button at the bottom of the page.
Note: If you have folders on your website (locally, on your desktop), you need to create a folder in this directory using the "Create" button, next to the Create New Folder heading.

2) In the Upload Window, simply click "Browse" for each file you want uploaded and press "Upload Files" when you are done. See image below.
Note: Be sure the server structure you are creating on this server matches your website, otherwise, the browser won't know where to find your images. If you don't see images, its because your folder structure did not match.

TESTING
Go to your Domain and test.
Hit refresh a couple of times if you don't see anything. This may take awhile, but it should work.
